Tinkerer’s Craft

Tinkerer’s Craft is a Minecraft Datapack developed by touchportal as a companion content update to 1.16. It introduces a new multi-block structure, more vanilla progression, and lots of new metals, tools, quirks, and custom enchants to the game.

Developer’s Note

The bastion remnant blocks caught my eye when it was first announced. Blackstone bricks definitely resembled the seared bricks from Tinker’s Construct.

I took notes of some features I liked from Tinker’s Construct like the smeltery, casting items, alloy metals, tool abilities, and the dang guide book that I keep losing. Then, I simplified it (somewhat) so that casual players could pick it up without too much difficulty and shifted it to the end of the Minecraft ore progression chart.

I was hoping it could be a little companion update to 1.16 to add some more endgame stuff. As if the nether update wasn’t enough.

The first datapack with a versioning and api system.

This datapack has a lot going under the hood. Upon installing, it detects the version of Minecraft you’re playing on and runs code for that version. This means that this is a one-size-fits-all datapack that will not break, allowing new content updates to be played in any supporting version.

It can even signal to other datapacks to enable interconnected features that would otherwise require special modification.
